Keratosis Pilaris? Glytone has the solution!

A few months ago I wrote an article about Keratosis Pilaris since one of my friends was asking about it. Since then, I have heard quite a few people inquiring about what seems to be an increasingly common condition. I’m amazed at the number of people who have Keratosis Pilaris and didn’t realize it for years. I’m wondering if the condition isn’t really becoming more common but rather people are talking about it more and realizing that’s what they have.

To recap, Keratosis Pilaris is a condition that causes rough, hard bumps to form on the skin. The bumps can usually be found on the back of the arms and legs but can also appear on other areas of the body and even the face. Some people call Keratosis Pilaris “chicken skin”. The condition stems from a build up of keratin (protein) in the skin. The hair follicles become clogged and the bumps emerge.

The best way to control the problem is to continually eliminate dead skin cells with a chemical exfoliant so that the keratin can’t build up and trigger those bumps. This is by no means a cure but it can help to manage Keratosis Pilaris. Although there are many chemical exfoliants on the market, I’ve noticed that there are not many companies that want to tell customers that their products are suitable for Keratosis Pilaris. Until recently, I’ve never even see an over the counter product indicated just for this condition.

That’s why I was so intrigued when I heard about Glytone’s KP Kit. It’s a two-step system specifically formulated for the management of Keratosis Pilaris. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the kit and give it a try. I don’t exactly have Keratosis Pilaris but I do get rough, slightly bumpy skin on the backs of my arms. Once again, the guinea pig went to work!

The first part of the system is the Exfoliating Body Wash which contains glycolic acid. There’s a pouf included so you just squeeze out a quarter sized amount onto the pouf and lather up. The body wash smells really refreshing and the lather is abundant. I actually use it all over for a general exfoliating effect. The second part of the system is the Body Lotion which also contains glycolic acid. It’s a very strong product so be careful if you’re sensitive and prepare for a temporary tingle even if you’re not. Make sure you don’t use this lotion on your face since the acid content is just too high. The lotion is very rich and thick so use it when your skin is still damp from the shower and rub it in really well.

I give the Keratosis Pilaris kit two thumbs up. It really helps to smooth out rough, bumpy skin and even out skin texture. Even if you don’t have Keratosis Pilaris, the system is great for an overall exfoliating and smoothing effect. I’ll definitely keep using it!

Great info Gina. I've lived with KP my whole life and the Glytone kit is the best I've used. I don't have a single bump left and the rest of my skin is soft and smooth as well.
