Most of us at one time or another have probably pondered what cosmetic we would just have to have if we were only allowed one. For instance, many years ago my girlfriend and I had a conversation while watching the TV show Survivor about which one item we would choose to take along, because the participants were chatting about which item they chose and why they chose it. It was particularly funny because most people would think of something specific to surviving and yet she and I both thought of makeup! And even funnier than that…we both would have chosen lipstick!

Apparently, we’re not alone because lipstick has been the cosmetic of choice for centuries. Skincare-news recently published a great piece on the history of this precious and long sought after cosmetic. The article entitled All about Lipstick History and How-To is so thoroughly comprehensive I seriously have nothing more I could add to it in terms of writing my own lip-stick article or making it any better than it already is. It covers interesting theory and history of lipstick, color choices and why to choose them, tips on application, the many types of lip coloring enhancement, newer information such as lip primers, advice from makeup artists, and even a section dedicated on how to make your own!

The only thing I feel I could add to this amazingly written and informative article is perhaps my opinion of which lipstick brands and products I myself use and feel are excellent choices. And basically that’s only a subjective addition to Skincare News’ very objective article. But since I feel a huge part of my job and largely a very important reason why I even write a blog is for suggesting, recommending and sharing, as well as input from all of you.
