It seems that the more we get out and do things such as shop, go on dates and/or day trips, or even just go out to dinner and dance; the more we want to keep doing it even more. In other words, fun seems to beget fun...instead of rest…at least it seems to work that way for me.
Problem is…all that fun takes a toll on our skin. Whether it’s lack of sleep, a little extra alcohol consumption or just plain ole exhaustion the one thing we may see when we look in the mirror is a face that really needs some tender loving care. Actually, it needs 911 care…and for me that’s almost always some sort of revitalizing and hydrating mask.

I’ve written about the scientific skin care brand CosMedix a number of times not only because I’m so impressed with their use of “chirally correct” scientific formulations; but also because every single product I’ve used of theirs has worked brilliantly. Additionally, the highly effective products produce virtually zero irritation. Chirality refers to the right and left-handedness (if you will) of molecules. I was so impressed recently after over-hearing two dermatologists one afternoon at lunch casually having a conversation about the first ‘at-home-use’ device for anti-aging that they felt not only worked…but worked very well. Increasing volume in the skin of men and women who have sunken, creased and furrowed skin due to aging has typically been treated by way of injectable fillers such as Juvederm, collagen and Restylane. But another approach (especially for those who are allergic to fillers such as collagen) has been fat transfer. Fat transplantation is a procedure in which fat is removed or liposuctioned from one’s own body such as from their thighs or abdomen and then cleansed, processed and inserted into other desired areas where fullness is wanted such as sunken cheeks or backs of the hands to offer a much more youthful, plumped up look. Injectable fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane and Radiesse are medical office procedures which are used to plump up deep facial lines, folds and creases creating a fuller much more youthful skin and face. Let’s face it. Most of us him-haw around when it comes to our faithfulness (or lack thereof) to flossing. And of all oral care it is probably the single most important factor for gum disease prevention. Not to mention the alternative is horrific, both to the health of your mouth and the dental procedure used to eliminate the disease process that could have been prevented in the first place by a simple few minutes added to the time it takes to brush your teeth. I’m sure most of you know what I’m referring to. You know those little measurements the hygienist takes during your regular cleaning appointment. The ones where they sink the measuring tool into your gums and you want to hear low numbers, yet we oftentimes hear high ones? When our numbers are high the chances are likely that the dentist will recommend deep scaling and/or root planning which is often done in multiple visits. In order to lessen that option; flossing is mandatory and conducive to prevention. And compliancy is mandatory in order for the latter. The issue with non-compliancy seems to always point to the same thing…it happens when something is difficult to do or is just a plain old pain in the neck. And denial certainly plays a role as I too was guilty of being lackadaisical with flossing until I found how easy it can be. Not to mention how good it feels to have a clean fresh mouth free of plaque and bacteria. Once I discovered a ridiculously cheap product that was just as ridiculously easy to use, my flossing habits changed dramatically…as did my mouth. My dentist couldn’t believe the difference he had witnessed with the improvement of my gums and teeth. I started using Oral-B Glide Pro Health Dental Floss Picks because they were so easy to use that my compliancy soared. I actually look forward to flossing now.
