Alyssa Milano – From Child Star to Wen Spokeswoman

Alyssa Milano grew up in the public eye, blossoming from a child star to a woman on her hit television series. The 41-year-old wife and mother has achieved what few child stars can claim: a career in Hollywood that lasted from childhood to adulthood without public meltdowns or heartbreaking battles with substance abuse. In honor of this remarkable and beautiful woman, here's a look back at her long career.

- Alyssa's Discovery - When Alyssa was 8, her babysitter took her along for an audition for a touring production of the musical "Annie." Although she hadn't planned on winning the part, Alyssa beat out the other 1,500 girls who showed up for the open call. After touring with the show, Alyssa did some theater off Broadway and developed an impressive resume for a girl her age.

- Who's the Boss? - In 1983, Alyssa won the role of Samantha Micelli on "Who's the Boss?" The producers of the show loved her girl-next-door charms and felt that she perfectly fit the role of Tony Danza's daughter. The show ran from 1984 to 1992 with more than 190 episodes airing before it ended.

- Melrose Place - From 1997 to 1998, Alyssa had a recurring role on the prime time drama "Melrose Place." She portrayed Jennifer Mancini, a character that was always stirring up trouble among the residents of the luxury apartment complex.

- Charmed - Next to "Who's the Boss?" "Charmed" is arguably one of Alyssa's most notable roles. She appeared on the show as Phoebe Halliwell from 1998 to 2006 and acquired a cult following of fans. Before the series reached its conclusion, a total of 178 episodes had aired, and today, the show is still a favorite among many sci-fi and fantasy fans.

- Philanthropy - Over the years, Alyssa has been involved with numerous charities. She has appeared in ads for PETA, is a Founding Ambassador for the Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases and serves as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for the United States. During the 1980s and 90s, Alyssa spoke out about AIDS awareness, helping to reduce some of the stigma surrounding the disease.

- Wen Spokeswoman - In 2011, Alyssa Milano became the spokeswoman for Wen. The hair care company was founded by celebrity hairstylist Chaz Dean and is well known for its 5-in-1 cleansing conditioner. Alyssa has appeared in television commercials, online ads and print ads for the brand and is certainly partially responsible for launching the natural hair care company into a brighter spotlight.

You can catch Alyssa this summer on the television show "The Mistresses." She has the starring role in the ABC drama series, playing Savannah Davis. The show has already created a lot of buzz and critical acclaim, and it will be exciting to see where Alyssa's career goes from here.
